Bastion Stability
Privacy notice
The short version: an email address, used to send you an email newsletter, deleted the moment you ask.
What is collected
When you subscribe, we collect the email address you enter and, if you choose to supply it, a first name. Our email provider records the technical information that any email service records: the date you subscribed, the IP address the subscription came from, and whether individual issues were opened or their links clicked.
Why it is collected
- To send you the daily briefing you asked for.
- To send you The 2026 Retiree Tax Map once you confirm your address.
- To prove, if a mailbox provider asks, that you gave permission — which is why the confirmation click is recorded.
- To see, in aggregate, which subjects readers open, so the briefing can be better.
Double opt-in
Nothing is ever sent to an address that has not confirmed itself. When you subscribe, one confirmation email goes out. If you do not click the link in it, you hear nothing further and the incomplete record is discarded.
Who else sees it
Our email delivery provider, EmailOctopus, processes and stores the list on our behalf, and our website host serves these pages. Neither uses your address for their own purposes. Your address is not sold, rented, traded or shared with anyone else.
How long it is kept
For as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, the address is removed from the sending list; a suppression record is retained only so that you are not accidentally re-added later. You may ask for that record to be deleted too.
Your choices
- Leave at any time. One click on the unsubscribe link at the foot of every issue. No confirmation step, no survey.
- Ask what is held. Write to bastion-stab@outlook.com and you will get the answer.
- Ask for deletion. Same address. It will be done.
Cookies and the signup form
These pages set no tracking cookies of their own. The signup form itself is provided by EmailOctopus and loads from their servers, so their own terms apply to what it records when you use it. If you follow a link from an email, the email provider may append parameters to the address so it can count the click.
Children
Bastion Stability is written for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that affects what is collected or why, the change will be described at the top of this page and, where it matters, mentioned in an issue.
