What lands in your inbox
The same structure every morning, so you always know where to look. Nothing is buried, and nothing is padded.
Market Delta
Four lines. Overnight index moves, the 10-year yield, gold, crude. What changed while you slept, with the numbers, not adjectives.
Five signals, deliberately different from each other
The day's main market story, the second-order trade beneath it, a macro or commodity read, a retirement-portfolio angle, and a close on volatility and discipline. Never five versions of the same idea.
🎯 Actionable Trade Setup — Watching / Bias / Risk
Every theme ends the same way: what to watch, which direction the evidence leans, and the condition that would prove the whole idea wrong. Never "buy this."
🔒 OBBBA Rule Watch — one tax rule, explained properly
One provision a day from a fifteen-rule rotation: the exact threshold, who it applies to, what changed, what to do about it, and the year the window closes. Over three weeks you see all fifteen.
Trade Cheat Sheet
The entire issue compressed to one table — ticker, theme, bias, action. Print it, forward it to your advisor, or keep it open in a tab.
The weekend edition
Two longer pieces instead of five short ones: the story the week actually told, a By The Numbers table, and what to have on your screen Monday. Slower, on purpose.

The 2026 Retiree Tax Map
Twelve provisions that changed what American retirees owe — each one with the exact dollar threshold, the income line where it starts disappearing, and the year the window closes for good.
Most coverage of the 2025 tax law told you it was big. This tells you the numbers. Every figure is taken from the IRS inflation adjustments for tax year 2026, the IRS retirement plan limits for 2026, and the text of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — not from summaries of summaries.
- 01The $6,000 senior deduction — and the modified-AGI line at $75,000 single / $150,000 joint where it begins to vanish. Gone entirely by $175,000 / $250,000. Expires after 2028.
- 02The SALT cap at $40,000 — four times what it was, rising about 1% a year, and back to $10,000 in 2030. Why that makes 2026–2029 the itemizing window.
- 05The new 0.5%-of-AGI floor on charitable giving that starts in 2026 — the quiet change that makes bunching two years of donations into one worth real money.
- 09The 2026 ceilings, in one place — $24,500 workplace deferral, $8,000 catch-up at 50, $11,250 at 60–63, $7,500 IRA, $1,100 IRA catch-up, $4,400 / $8,750 HSA.
- +The Closing Windows calendar — a single page listing what expires in 2028, what changes in 2029, and what snaps back in 2030, so nothing catches you late.

The editorial charter
Four rules the briefing is written against. They are not aspirations; they are the standard an issue has to clear before it is sent.
Every idea carries the condition that would prove it wrong
A setup without an invalidation point is a guess wearing a suit. Watching, Bias, Risk — in that order, every time. You decide what to do; we make sure you can see the downside before you do it.
Every number carries its source
Tax figures come from the IRS, Treasury and the Congressional Research Service. Market figures come from the print, the filing or the exchange. Nothing is written from memory, and nothing older than a week is passed off as current.
Every term gets one plain sentence the first time it appears
QCD, SALT, MAGI, RMD, basis step-up. You are not going to be quizzed and you are not going to be talked down to. One clear sentence, then straight on with the point.
Every issue is anchored to one day
Not "recently." Not "this quarter." Yesterday's close, last night's session, this morning before the open. If there is nothing worth saying about today, the issue says so rather than filling the space.
Who writes it
One editor, one voice, one set of standards.
Kasper Soren writes Bastion Stability. He is not on television, he does not manage anyone's money, and he does not sell a fund, a course or a seminar.
The job, as he describes it, is unglamorous: read the release, read the filing, read the actual rule text, and then write down what it means for a household living on what it spent forty years saving. The reader he writes for has been through 1987, 2000, 2008 and 2020 as an investor. That reader does not need the news repeated. He needs to know which part of it touches his IRA, and what the sensible response is before ten o'clock.
The tone follows from the reader. Not a guru, not a professor — closer to the neighbor who used to cover markets for a living and will tell you the real version over the fence, including the part where he is not sure.
Correctness beats excitement. Every time.
